Dear Michelle--thank you so much for putting up this blog and especially for including me on it! Alas, the finding of your site was via a link one of my students sent me about a misconception on a web list referring to my "flipping off everyone who knows Egyptian by flashing my palms" during this piece. In keeping with your request for educational information about these videos posted, it should be noted that, although greatly inspired by the traditional Raks Al-Assaya, nowhere in the YouTube description of this piece does it refer to it as a pure Egyptian cane dance. It is simply a cane dance in my signature Tejedora style. (there is a detailed description of this style on my website: www.izzydancer.com) I am waaaay too attached to my flora-hands to ever be a proper Egyptian dancer and I can't remember the last time anybody accused me of coloring inside the lines! Hahahaha! Seriously though, I am honored that you enjoyed the piece so much that you would include it on your site--after all, I've seen who else you have up here! Sincerely, ~~Isidora Bushkovski
I adore this routine, and Izzy, too! She's so expressive and makes it looks like so much fun. :) Cool that she commented, too.
Hi Isidora..& I am honored that you took the time out to leave this comment, thanks, it gives people a great chance to hear a description of the video from the woman herself;)
I watch absolutley loads of bellydance videos on the internet, and I find that good ones (unless they are dancers from the bellydance superstars) seem quite hard to come by. I know that there are lots of talented dancers on vid out there, but not many seem to have that something extra special. By that I mean the fact that the dancer seems to be completely in her flow ie loving it!!& therefore creating her own style;) And I felt this came through on this particular vid of yours so thanks! I'm not fussed about technicalities eg flashing palms lol..I am happy for dancers to stick to a particular style or mix if they choose to.
I have posted the link on a few forums, and fellow bellydancers have been nothing but complimentary, so I haven't come across any offended Egyptian style dancers myself;)
I have linked the vid to your website via your name in the description.
Thanks again..keep it up;)
thankye-thankye! It makes me very happy when a video can capture a bit of how much I love it! This videographer BTW is Alex Olizewski - in case the anonymous commenter above did not get a chance to check out Shirabella's initial upload to YouTube. A good videographer is one of a dancer's best friends - ranking up there with good chefs, marley floors and a husband who gives foot massages! Heee! As far as any Ethno-Techno comments, they provide added tidbits of knowledge on the originating forms, and then give me the opportunity to chant my mantra - "There is no box! There is no box!"- and share that philosophy with others! Wahooo! ~~Iz
I would like to more know about it. asthma Read a useful article about tramadol tramadol
